Where can i download iso's of suse 9.0 Pro that actaully work?
Any link! Please!

They work, but differently. You have to burn them on a CD-ROM and then download the whole SuSE package from there. Make sure it's done on a computer with internet connection. ( http://www.linuxiso.org/viewmirrors.php/499 (http://www.linuxiso.org/viewmirrors.php/499) ).
Alternatively, you could try Fedora. It's just as easy as SuSE and it's the best for the usual PC user! Download Fedora Linux now: ftp://alviss.et.tudelft.nl/pub/fedora/core/1/i386/iso/ (http://ftp://alviss.et.tudelft.nl/pub/fedora/core/1/i386/iso/) (download the i386 ones, not the SRPM ones).

I'm using Fedora right now. The only mortal flaw in it is that like RedHat, it doesn't use the standard kernel, meanning I can't view NTFS and Fat32 drives, my sound doesn't work with it, and it doesn't support MP3's. This is why it's now called Fagora.
I'm recompiling the kernel once I find a suitable guide on doing so, but even then I'll still have the problem with XMMS not playing mp3's.. bastards.
Well, I couldn't get apt to work with SuSE, and I can with Fedora.. dammit.
-
Why do you think you need to recompile the kernel to do any of that?
-
I've never tried playing mp3s with Fedora, but my sound works and I can read NTFS and Fat32 drives. You, my friend, must be doing something wrong.
-
Getting xmms to play mp3s is just a 5 second job installing the plugin.

The FAQ isn't there for the fun of it you know: http://faq.belg88.com/. (http://faq.belg88.com/.) The viewing FAT32 patition stuff is easy, I posted something about it once on THIS forum.

What is it there for?

flap: What is it there for?
It's so that people who come here don't have to ask: "hey, how do I recompile my kernel?", because the answer is already in the FAQ.

Recompiling the new kernel I meant. Right now I'm using the default 2.4.22 POS.
I was still in the process of searching for a guide when I posted the first time. And, I wasn't really asking how I can, just telling you I need to find a way to. >_>
Recompiling the kernel is more of a just-for-fun thing I'm doing for experience. Hopefully the 2.6.3 should work with my sound, especially if I compiled it on my system.

Does fedora use Alsa as default?
-
Not sure, as I reinstalled SuSE earlier tonight.
-
Don't use SuSE, they are closed source bastards. I suggest just using RH9 until something better comes along (not to sound egotistical but, say, Komodo).

I think it's a good OS, I just wish someone had came up with a completely OSS version of it that does all the same things.
RH9 sucks too much for me to even consider it now.

You can get the Full CD Set Here of SuSE 9.0 Pro:

I'm not gonna get into the religious debate about which distro....
I run everything from slack to fedora.
I will, however, make a suggestion for a good mp3 player that works on fedora, slackware, rh9, suse, and college.
Beep Media Player
http://beepmp.sourceforge.net/ (http://beepmp.sourceforge.net/)
Not saying it's the best, but it serves my needs well.
