Title: Mandrake 9 Video editing
Post by: UODU on 30 March 2003, 12:20
G'day guys,

Well I've finally done it... taken the first step to ridding my machine of that scourge.

Just for the record I'm still duel booting (NT 2000 & Mandrake 9) since there are a couple of programs (no ms) that I'm reluctant to let go of; till I find suitable substitutes. Anyway, as soon as I first tried Mandrake it was obvious that it was running well; though with my acquired brain injury I  know it's initially going be a bit of a trial to get my head around a new OS.

So much for the chit chat... For now (hope to move to Apple) I'm using a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4200 Laptop (500mhz)  20 gig hard drive with 192 megs ram and I've recently bought a IK Kouwell 1394 & USB2.0 Combo CardBus Adapter, and I've got a Sony Handycam Digital 8 DCR-TRV120E and some really excellent Hi8 footage taken just before my 'accident which I would like to edit.

In a word... HELP!

Regards

Braindead

I dont know much if this is a good product or not, but others seem to like it. Try http://heroinewarrior.com/cinelerra.php3 (http://heroinewarrior.com/cinelerra.php3)

There's another video editing program that's on one of your Mandrake CD's called Broadcast 2000 (it's excellent for audio multi-track recording, too).  It's an older program and probably not as feature rich as cinelerra, but I think it's cool.

It's called "bcast" on your Mandrake CD's if you want to use it.
