Post by: BobsYourUncle on 21 June 2002, 14:47
How do i set up mandrake to connect to the internet through my motorola surfboard 4100 USB cable modem? It appears correctly under USB devices. It works fine using a network card, but If i can away with not buying another network card i would be happier...

thanks to anyone who helps...

Isn't there an option in the Mandrake Control Center that lets you configure your modem? Which version of Mandrake are you using?

I've only used Mandrake 8.1 but I don't think that there's a big difference. Well, in 8.1 under KDE or GNOME you had to click on the Control Panel icon on your desktop, then go the "Network and Internet" option and click on the "Connection" tab. All you had to do from there on was to launch the "Network and Internet Configuration Wizard". As I said I don't know if that applies to 8.2, but give it a try anyway. Your cable modem should be listed under /dev/usb/.. something. Good luck   ;)
