Title: Need "vector format" software for art
Post by: edisav on 12 September 2003, 07:31
Hey folks,

I need some software that would allow me to create art in vector format. I will eventually have to cross it over to fuckdows for the printing company. I run Mandrake 9.1.

Any suggestions?
Thnx!

You can do vector graphics with OpenOffice it should be on your computer already

just open "Openoffice.org Draw"

If you have KDE installed you might already have "Kontour" That'll work too

other than that try freshmeat (http://freshmeat.net) or sourceforge (http://sourceforge.net) and type vector graphics into the search field

Don't forget the venerable xfig.

You can tranfer alot of stuff to windows by converting it first to eps format... you lose the ability to edit it though. If you truly want a cross platform open source vector drawing program then the openoffice draw is your best bet.

There's also QCad. It's more angled toward technical drawing, but it's very capable

I recommend Sodipodi.
