i was wondering what would be a good mutitrack audio editor to use, i was looking at ardour as a possibility but i dont want to compile the damn thing myself (too lazy) but i dont think that the rpms will work with SUSe 8.1 will it? im just starting to use suse so i will naturally have other questions.

don't know, but if you do install it, let me know what it's like. also, SLab is another one i heard of but last time i tried to install it would't play well with my sound card.

LOTS of really good audio stuff there; it's the Eastman School of Music.

Look under Multitrack recording

Personally, I'm looking at Ecasound.

I tried SLab, and the program installed okay, but it didn't make any sense.  I haven't used Ecasound extensively, but as far as I can tell, it's a lot more straightforward, especially with the help of the tk/tcl frontend that's also available for the program.
