Title: VoidMain now "void main"
Post by: voidmain on 6 September 2002, 07:30
Well, I didn't want to start a new topic on this subject but m0r appears to have closed the old thread.  But anyhoo, I feel pretty stupid now. Don't remember why I signed up as "VoidMain" when I wanted "void main". m0r is right, spaces could not have been my limitation. Maybe I really did want it to be "VoidMain" so as to add a little obfuscation.

At any rate, I just now changed it to "void main" because I think it's more appropriate and less confusing.  In fact, I might have actually tried initially to set it to "void main()" but I think it was the parens that it didn't allow so I just got annoyed and made it "VoidMain" in rebellion...

Clever, "man ascii" comes in handy on that one. As long as you are not cin >> bill.gates.

It should be int main because every *nix program should return a result code  ;)

then again, int main( int argc, char** argv) is such a unwieldy forum handle  ;)

You are absolutely correct Karma and to tell you the truth I debated over that very fact for agonizing seconds.  But I thought "void main" had a little better ring to it for a name. Either that or "dev null" but I just noticed today that one was previously used by Leo over at Tech TV so I certainly wouldn't want there to be any confusion there...

dev null would be cool. Too bad it's taken.
I've been considering changing my name too, but, wtf ... people know me as f00 so why ... ?

Moving it to the lounge was the right thing to do. Closing the thread was not, as I was not allowed to reply after you moved it.

All I can say is there was no "post reply" button when I went to reply, and there was no "" button obove the messages.  Someone else may have closed it, then reopened it at some point after but I certainly wasn't seeing things at the time.  But it's certainly not the end of the world...
