Title: Instalilng RedHat 7.3 over FTP.
Post by: AlexMax on 21 August 2002, 03:44
I'm thinking about setting up an FTP server over my small lan, and isntalling RedHat that way, as opposed to the three CD's.

Anything I should know?  I have the disk image and the three ISO's plus the FTP server daemon.

I have done it that way but I prefer to install via "http" rather than "ftp" as it seems faster.  I just create a "/RedHat/RPMS/" subdirectory under the FTP or Apache root (one can be a symbolic link to the other to save space if you have the Apache server configured correctly and want to use both options). Then copy everything out of /RedHat/RPMS/ on each CD to that directory.  Then you can use your network install boot disk to install from either URL.
