Hey, i downloaded and compiled the 2.4.19 stock kernel and everything is great but sound wont work. i get some error. It must be the new kernel cos sound works fine and dandy in windows.
I cant boot to the old kernel cos for some reason it just boots the new one. im gettin red hat 8 tomorrow so if its too much trouble ill live without sound for a night but any suggestions are sure welcome.

I would opt to hold of for RH8. I'm too damn tired to do this stuff tonight. (http://smile.gif)
-
rightio. i really want this rh8 install to last. I jope i like this distro. When i get it can u help us tweak it and all that. and compiling the kernel and whatever.
-
Shouldn't be a problem unless I kick off before your RedHat comes in. And if I do, there's plenty of others here more than capable of helping you out.
-
well i dont know what time zone your in but im on
"Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time" +GMT 10 but with daylight savings. and ill be on and 4:30 AEDST.
-
Let's put it this way. If you were to drill a hole through your floor to the center of the earth, then keep on going until you came out the other side your drill would probably come through my floor. (http://smile.gif)
-
That would be a great idea except for the 15000+ degrees celcius solid iron core at the centre of the earth, that would be a bit hard to get around.
-
That's why you have to do it "really quickly" so your drill bit doesn't melt.
-
No, but something sure stinks!

lol I did X11, since we are on the same rock and everything.
Sings:
"were livin' on solid rock, standing on, sacred ground, living on, borrowed time and the way could change, further down the line"
Aussies, im sure uve heard that one
-
i'm sure they all have, but how many actually pay any attention to the lyrics?
-
im not sure if u know that song but if u ever hear it you will remember the lyrics.
-
yes i know it, it was released by Goanna in 1982 and was a big hit in australia, despite the fact that many australians obviously have no concept of what the lyrics mean even if they do know them.
and i know i sound like a cocky smartarse here, so i deeply apologise since that's not how it's intended, but it's 'the winds of change are blowin' down the line'.
