Title: Slackware xf86config question
Post by: RudeCat7 on 11 October 2002, 19:06
I went through xf86config again, making sure I have all the right settings, and the picture looks good, but again, the desktop is bigger than the monitor screen. Is this normal? I've heard of a virtual desktop before, but I didn't want one.

How do I change this?

Alright, I had to figure it out the hard way...but, it's probably better that way for my edutainment.

QUESTION: I am stuck with a virtual desktop. How do I get rid of it?

ANSWER: As long as you got your xf86config right, just hold CTRL+ALT and hit your "+" on your numeric keypad, this will scroll through your various screen settings, and one should fill up your screen without  the need of a virtual desktop. Then, if necessary, change the size of your fonts, and taskbar to a good size.

Now that wasn't so hard, was it? See what RTFM does for you?  :D
