Title: knoppix boot loader question
Post by: hnugz on 20 August 2004, 05:42
I just installed the latest knoppix iso to my hard drive and i was never given an option of what boot loader to use.  Now when it boots it says debian sid and lists the boot options.  What is this?  It doesn't look like lilo or grub and ive never heard of anything else.  Where do I go to change these boot options?  I only get 3 seconds to choose.  Thanks.

Cause that's how knoppix works(and why it's easy).
You still can change this after your installation, but than you'll better use the new official Debian installer(this will give you more options but isn't as easy...)
See:
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/ (http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/)

Ps: Knoppix does use either GRUB or lilo.  ;)

Debian uses Lilo last I checked.  The file is /etc/lilo.conf.  Then you run /sbin/lilo to save these settings.
