XFree86 version 4.3.0 has been released publically today! Say hello to xrandr, alpha blended and animated cursors, and configurable hot keys, among others. If you want to see the release notes you can get em here: http://xfree86.org/4.3.0/RELNOTES.html (http://xfree86.org/4.3.0/RELNOTES.html)

Now, when is Keith gonna get around to making the X Translucent Window Extension??

LOL mission critical apps: now with translucent cursors

i just compiled it for slackware last nite and will probably contribute a package to xfree or whatever and let me tell you, 4.3 is Slick. The cursors are beautiful (i like whiteglass better than redglass) and xrandr is quite useful (id like to start working on tools for that). Im working on my own cursor set now.

If you're running slackware you can install it with the Dropline-Installer (http://www.dropline.net/gnome/)
run that and choose to install XFree86 4.3

you DON'T have to install Gnome 2.2. you can just simply choose to install Xfree86 4.3 only.

it will download it and install it for you  (http://smile.gif)
