Title: Kernel Panic: No init found
Post by: DJ on 25 November 2002, 02:14
... Try passing it=option to kernel

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh

I feel like such a newb!!!

I tried to install Mandrake 9.0 on the 5GB drive I have, and use it as a secondary drive on my main machine. It installed just fine, then it set the boot loader to what I assumed to be correct, but then when it rebooted:

Ext3-fs: unable to read superblock

mount=error 22 mounting ext3 flags

Kernel Panic: No init found...

I put the install disk back in and tried to "reset boot loader" back to windows, but no go, it didn't fix the linux boot loader (which I tried first), is there anyway to recover this or should I just start over?

And for future reference, should I just install on the 5GB drive for linux and the other for windows? I really wanted to dual boot. I would appreciate it greatly if anyone could help, I would just STW but I have a huge report due tomorrow and I need to use my computer. Thanks

Dj

I suggest you reinstall (making sure to install GRUB on the MBR).

Went out of town to help my grandmother move,  waiting for my new vid card to arrive, and contemplating building a new box for linux instead of continuing to use this PII 266

good though thanks for asking,
