does anyone know where i can find a list of supported mp3 players? and i mean hardware mp3 players, not software.
-
Then why would you be asking this in the Linux/UNIX forum? It should have been in the Lounge.
-
yes it should and no i don't, moving thread now... (http://smile.gif)

As far as I know most of the rio's are, the samsung yepp series is, and the iPod is.
That's all I know.
But look one google and sourceforge lazy child....
-
do mp3 players have to be compatible with the OS?? or why is he asking for ones that are supported, unless he means your support for them.
-
Duh, my bad, sorry about that! I misunderstood the question and it likely should stay in the Linux/UNIX forum. I assume he is asking what MP3 players can be interfaced with Linux although he didn't mention a particular OS. Thanks for straightening that out m0r!
Here's a couple of links (I don't have any experience with hardware MP3 players, found these on Google):

Seems like there's some linux support for the Yepp
http://sourceforge.net/projects/yepp (http://sourceforge.net/projects/yepp)
http://www.cs.toronto.edu/~kal/sulu/ (http://www.cs.toronto.edu/~kal/sulu/)
http://gimel.esc.cam.ac.uk/james/nope/index.html (http://gimel.esc.cam.ac.uk/james/nope/index.html)
and for the Diamond Rio
http://rio500.sourceforge.net/ (http://rio500.sourceforge.net/)
http://www.world.co.uk/sba/ (http://www.world.co.uk/sba/)
Just found these on Google typing "Yepp + linux" and "Rio + linux" - without the quotes, so I guess if you put your mind on a different mp3 player you could probably find drivers for it too using the same search method.
