Title: boot error with new kernel
Post by: dbl221 on 30 May 2002, 21:18
Ok this hsa never happened to me before.  I compiled the 2.5.15 kernel, and rebooted and dam it cant even start INIT.....it is nice enough to tell me the contents of most of my favorite registers though.

This is my first development kernel build...it this typical or is it just me??

I never touch devel kernels.
I've heard of too many horror stories with them.
I prefer to stick with the stable kernel tree(2.4.x) simply to avoid trouble.

Heru is right. If you really want to compile anew kernel stick with the latest stable kernel tree  ;)

I always build from the stable source but this time I thought I would try the 2.5.X........last time I try that.  :D
