Title: SLab - has anybody used it? If so... HEEEEELLLPPP!!!!
Post by: Calum on 27 October 2002, 11:59
i finally got SLab to run, by installing it in /usr/local (it is not entirely open source, and apparently some of it's programs need to be in /usr/local/, but it doesn't tell you that anywhere to my knowledge)

anyway, now it runs but whenever i try to start any of its component parts, it gives me this dialogue box:

what does it want and how do i satisfy it and make it go away? anybody know?
i can't find any discussion forums for this program anywhere on the internet and the most recent version seems to be a beta from last year, which sucks since until that release it was getting updated regularly.
I really want this program to work, so can anybody point me in the right direction? or tell me some other forum i might ask on?
thanks in advance...

Well it looks to me like it wants you to specify the audio devices you want to use. /dev/dsp in the top left box and /dev/mixer in the top right, maybe?

hooray!!!!!!!!! it wooooooorks!

thanks a lot! i am a dummy sometimes, well a lot of the time, but once the basic things are all in my mind, i can usually get the rest! thanks a lot! after spending AUS$200 on Sound Forge (which works fine) and finding it fills up a whole CD, finding this gem of a program for linux (a whopping 2.1MBdownload! suck it, all you 'linux-is-bloatware' retards!) i must say i have high hopes.

now it finally wants to cooperate maybe i will be able to RECORD A SONG IN LINUXXXXXX!!!
that's a dream i have had for over a year!

PS, a new song (superglue) is out now on my site, maybe it is the last ever song you'll be able to get by me that was recorded using windows!  ;)
