I dont know if this is the right topic to put it in, but whatever, i have a game that works on windows98-XP, if i were to put Red Hat Linux 8.0 on my laptop, and install the game meant to run on windows, will it work on Linux?

wine (http://www.winehq.com) YOu can get wine there.  WineX you have to pay for, and that is the one you need to run games that require directX as I understand it.

Before we get to Wine or WineX, what game is it? What are the specs for your laptop? The reason I ask is that Wine and WineX sometimes require faster computers to play todays games. For example a 1ghz computer with 256mb ram can play battlefield 1942 on windows just fine, but on linux, with a somewhat inefficeint emulation layer, it might take a 2ghz with 512mb ram to play the game at decent speed.
