A) Mp3s wont play. MMX seems to refuse to play them. And the build in player crashes.
B) The Sawfish options dont load up.

I havent had either of those problems... but here is a solution for the MP3 not playing:
www.xmms.org (http://www.xmms.org)

Redhat 8 update Nov 05, 2002
A couple of issues with the latest Redhat 8.0 release of XMMS:
* Can't add/play mp3s.
Redhat decided to not ship any mp3 decoding software whatsoever in Redhat 8.0, so you'll have a couple of options.
o Download the mpg123 plugin here
http://staff.xmms.org/priv/redhat8 (http://staff.xmms.org/priv/redhat8)
o Download a replacement RPM for XMMS
http://www.gurulabs.com/downloads.html (http://www.gurulabs.com/downloads.html)
http://psyche.freshrpms.net/rpm.html?id=106 (http://psyche.freshrpms.net/rpm.html?id=106)
Users using freshrpms.net for apt-get can grab the package 'xmms-mp3'
o Compile and install XMMS from source.
http://www.xmms.org/download.html (http://www.xmms.org/download.html)
* Segfaults when I start XMMS.
More information here and here
* Can't change to standard skin.
Create an empty folder in your ~/.xmms/Skins dir and use that as skin instead of default, since the Redhat 8 patch changes the skin to Bluecurve if no skin is selected.
it was right on the fucking main page at the top.
You should use OGG music format anyway though!!

ops. I didnt think of looking at the xmms page. I thought it was a similar bug that Gnome had on 7.3 when you viewed mp3s with the "view as music" format.
