i want to use mIRC on linux, i have got it going in wine but cant connect to any servers.
Dont say use X-Chat cos i want to script and for that i need mIRC, i have searched all over for an alternative and im using wine as a last resort.
Thankyou.

no mate mIRC is more widespread and has its own scripting thing for popups and that.
-
Dang X11 you really are my G.
i found something called Tcl, i believe this is what i want.

Both the mIRC and the Wine pages report mIRC running on a standard Wine install.
It sucks that the author simply refuses to port mIRC to Linux though!!
-
ahh damn
the install says it will install to /usr/lib/xchat/plugins but this doesnt exist on my system. what is redhat doing to linux? everything is different. oh well how do i find out where my xchat plugins go so i can edit the make file?
-
fucking this is pathetic should i download xchat and install it myself or what? geez i dont think ill be using red hat much longer.
-
on various ocassions i have tried to install various versions of wine myself, and only on one occasion have i succeeded. red hat comes with it preinstalled. yes wine is shit and runs barely anything just the same, and no i have never tried to run mirc in it, but i think ditching red hat isn't the answer here.
sorry, that ended up a bit confused...

X-Chat plugins are stored in .xchat in your home dir together with all the config files.
