Title: Slow loading
Post by: Stryker on 25 August 2002, 05:37
Recently, in my use of RH73, I have had very slow loading of programs. It took me 5 minutes to load konsole, with only 15% of a 800MHz duron processor taken before i started. Konqueror took about the same, and still 5 minutes for each click. Anyone know what could be causing such a slowdown?

KDE 3.0? Were you using the quickbrowser?
KDE 3.0.1 fixed a major memory leak in the quickbrowser.

It's not just the browser. It happens on the terminal windows, it happens on every program i open. even the smallest. (or would it be just from running the browser a few days ago without restarting?)

if you were using the quickbrowser then it would slow down your other questions. You have to browse for only about 2 mintues before it really starts slowing down your system.

Well all was well after a restart. I'll start using mozilla again. (although it does give me problems when i maximize it sometimes)
