So I remember quite awhile back I watched this movie called "Pirates of Silicon Valley", it was about Bill Gates, Steve Jobbs and the rise of Microsoft and Apple.
Now I can't remember much of the movie. Just who was this Bill Gates anyways? Was he a fucking loser in school who got picked on all the time(seriously)? Was he a scheming, backstabbing sociopath as a kid and teenager? Perhaps he developed this at Microsoft? What if he was good in the begining and was corrupted later on? Or perhaps what if he was good in the early 90's, but became evil in the mid 90's(win 95)? And hey, did such "evilness" only resonate in his busisness dealings with Wind0ze and the computer world, or was he a horrible person all the time?

hes been a bastard since the 80's when he "made" dos. and slipped away from under IBM's thumb. don't know much about his personal life though. isn't he marryed to some supermodel or somthing

Pirates of Silicon Valley is an entirely fictional show. It never ceases to amaze me how many people tell me of the fistfight between Gates and Jobs over the GUI.

I respect and despise the man at the same time. Somehow..

This was indeed an interesting movie, although much of it is untrue, some of it is true, and the way Gates and Jobs were portayed, are how I wish they really were, it would make for some interesting news stories. If you want to see a good promotional film for open source, watch anti-trust. Its basically the story of what would happen if Bill Gates really was evil. Also the good guys are seen using gnome on *nix in the film.

Yes, Anti-Trust was an excellent film. It wasn't hard to figure out who they modeled the bad guy and bad company after.

Antitrust was cool. What I thought was interesting was how Ryan Philppe(sp?) can go from a l33t h4x0r d00d(Anti-trust) to a ladies man(Cruel Intentions) to a criminalistic gun d00d(Way of the gun). Big thumbs up to Ryan! (http://smile.gif)
Although the concept of the software in Anti-trust is totally flawed. I believe it was a software allowing conversion of digitial formats into a compatible format for ANY system. Fine storyline, except I doubt that such software could be created in real-life. If you did, it would have to be constantly updated and tested. At least the big bad corporation wasn't a bunch of incompetent retards like Microsoft. I mean can you imagine MS making software like that? Lol talk about format to format data corruption. ;)
The other interesting thing was how the bad guy wasn't a nerdy, unhansome, un-charismatic piece of shit(unlike Bill Gates).
I didn't know that about Pirates of Silicon Valley though. I always thought it was a dramatic biography. :D

antitrust was a great movie. i remember thinking that the graphic designer chick was kind of hot.

nice movie but the only part i had major problem believing in was the camera on top of the people who were programming.
They could have found another way to show how they steal the code.
