That's right. Microsoft watches with SPOT technology will hit stores soon.

Wristwatches and wireless services based on Microsoft's Smart Personal Objects Technology won't be on sale in time for the holidays, but they are coming soon. The devices will be available in January, the software giant confirms.
quote:
Smart Personal Objects Technology, or SPOT, uses a portion of the FM broadcast radio networks to deliver snippets of information about weather, news, stock prices, and sports scores to wristwatches equipped with the technology.
quote:
The problem has now been fixed and Fossil has manufactured "many thousands" of SPOT watches that will hit stores next month, the source says. Microsoft's MSN Direct Service, which will deliver information to the watches, will also be available at that time. According to Microsoft, plans are priced at $9.95 per month or $59 per year; watches start at $129.
I don't understand why anyone would ever want one of these?
-
When Microsoft sells them, people will buy.
-
I have a time syncronised watch, and it has nothing to do with Microsoft. I've seen radio's with weather, traffic, news, etc. and it had nothing to do with Microsoft.
Still, people are going to think that this is another "innovative" product by Microsoft.

Whether anyone besides computer geeks will embrace the technology remains to be seen.
Oh well, I guess that's me out then. :D
But even if I was a computer geek, I still wouldn't waste my hard-earned - I'd rather just buy a normal watch, ty. (http://smile.gif)

My watch costed 30 euros (/0.6 AUS $) and it synchronises time, so it's never "off".
And btw, stop throwing stones at people!

my apologies refalm, i wasn't meaning to offend or insult anyone by that, i was just using their words:

How is a radio and a watch that can display the news , weather and appointments similar?

why would i pay $10 a month to use features of my watch? A watch is supposed to tell time. thats it. Anything more and it becomes clunky and "not cool".
-
EXACTLY
shit doesn't need to do everything because then it does a piss poor job of doing it
cars don't need a computers that can use your breaks and you don't need to pay 10$ a month for a fucking watch

Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun.
Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-two million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea.
