I dont really think Mac OS X is ugly, but I thought the linux is ugly thread needed a counterpart.
-
Foolish, but mildy amusing.
-
I wouldent say linux is ugly, but rather ugly-er.
OSX themes are nicer
-
They both look nice in their own way.
-
OS X needs a Platnium appearance built right in.
-
ok im sorry about the Linux = Ugly, it is just an opinion.
-
Correct me if I
-
Linux = As good as you want it to be.
-
And if you want to make it look better, learn how to program in C or make a pretty darn good theme with the GIMP.
-
Just download the aqua themes.

Every aqua copy I have seen are total crap, they lack all of the refinements of true Aqua.

I personally dont waste my time trying to copy aqua. I'd much rather have KDE 3 with a metallic theme.

gnome and kde kick ass. they are as good as anything macosx has. some osx features kick more ass, some gnome features kick more ass, some kde features kick more ass. this is like 'what's the best distro', but at the end of the day linux is the most customisable, and so you can change its looks more than any other OS if you want to do so.

Each and every one of those desktops environments (KDE, GNOME, Aqua) is beautiful in its own way. Personally, I like the eye-candiness and functionality of Aqua more than KDE or GNOME but then again it's all a matter of taste and very subjective if you ask me.

Im beginning to fall in love with the alternative light weight window managers, especially Fluxbox. I know it isnt as pretty as KDE, or gnome, but it runs quite fast on my 100mhz computer which is a lot more than I can say for either of the other two.
-
true, i like ultralightwieghter stuff like windowmaker and fluxbox, and heavy stuff like kde with mosfet's liquid installed.
-
From what I've seen of it, Linux is what Windows should have looked like.
-
Gnome with bluecurve kinda reminds me of a mix between OS 9 and Windows 2000. The way I have it set up anyway, with the menubar on top.

gnome in red hat 8 is the best default GUI setup i have seen on linux so far. not that it couldn't be better, but they set it up to look nice, and even kde looks quite nice out of the box in red hat 8.
