:D I didnt want to pay, I bitched and moaned about it but I couldnt stat away. I dunno if its worth $130 [I got it at the educatinal discount though($70)] but it kicks ass! The three most improvments I can see are the finder, start up and web pages load ALOT faster. Most of all though is the start up, 10.1.x was a little lag on the start up but with 10.2 its up within 20 seconds... Overall its much, much better. If you havn't upgraded I suggest you do!

Please provide pictures to prove...

I notioced tons of improvements, everything renders faster, the windows are snappier, lots more eye candy :D
And, maybe it's just me, but it looks crisper. Another cool thing is the new DevTools which havce always rocked. My oen complaint is that Duality wont work with 10.2 and Im gonna have to wait in order to use my fav. themes :(
Whatever, a small price to pay. I thinki it is well worth the cash, in my view it is 100 percent better, if not for the hardware acceleration alone. I also like the way the madde Sherlock and Find separete functions. It makes searching alot quicker and more streemlined. Spring loaded folders rock.

hey, i got duality, but i cant find any themes fo it. the program actually runs, but none of the themes ive found work on it. where did you get the themes you use?
and about 10.2, im too poor to afford the upgrade, so ill just wait until i get a new computer. its apples fault though, i COULD have afforded a $30 upgrade... but not $130. im just bitter, though..

do you guys miss the happy mac startup screen?
-
Actually I like the new one, but ive only been using a mac for like 6 or 7 months. Most of the old school mac addicts want the happy mac back. Besides I hardly ever see it, cause I rarely have to restart. :D

Do you have duality 3.1? If you dont go download it, and on the internet menu click live theme, it will get a list of some of the themes you can download. Also there is 2 versions to download, their both the same except one comes with a few themes already installed. And if your to poor to afford the update then how are you going to afford to get a new mac? I say buy 10.2 on line and get the educatinal discount, you dont have to prove you go to school or anything.

The best themes are available at ResExcellence.com
When you download a theme decompress it, and place the .theme folder into System->Library->Themes. Im not sure if this is the main system or the one in your user folder, it's been a bit since I have been there, check both, it shouldent be to hard to find. Once in there boot up duality and it should apear on the list.
Make sure you put the whole .theme folder in, don't mess with it's contents.

I'm too nervous to install any of my OS 10.1.5 themes into Jaguar, as Jag is working perfectly right now and I don't wanna jinx it.
Anyone using any of these themes with Jaguar?

I tryed to get a few of them to work, but no deals. It didnt effect anything though, it just didnt work. But if you read on that site it says at the top.

Starting August 24th the themes page will only contain themes compatible with Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar). Themes for 10.1 will be accessable in another area.

Ive tried that, i downloaded all the themes i got from ResExcellence.com, and none of them work. Duality (3.1) says that 10.0 themes wont work with 10.1. whats the deal? i put 'em in my themes folder and stuff, no dice... :(

I went to the live theme thing, and there were no themes to download. im not too poor to afford the upgrade, technically, but im too poor to be spending $120, or even $70 on an upgrade. more important things, like school, and transportation.

Hmmm... so your problem is the New Duality wont suport old themes. Can you download the old one?
If not, I have the Disk Image of the old one. IF you want I can e-mail it to you. That shou;d work fine.

I miss the Happy Mac. My computing life began on a Mac/SE 30 (which I still have up and running)
I just read (although I'm out of the running right now because I'm still trying to overtake my windoze machine with a new OS) that Mac is running behind in the new system... they underestimated their market - so for a 17" flatscreen etc...it can take up to 4 weeks.
Myself, if I could afford the beast, I would be using my current laptop for a bunwarmer...
I hate when this happens with Mac stuff - it gives people another argument as to why Microsoft rules.
Just my piece - Peace.

hmmm, if i could afford a g4 system, my current main x86 box would join my seti cluster/*a 32 port hub and 3 comps*/

I never restart...lol. 5l33p i5 l33t. I still have the receipt from my LC - and I sure in hell don't miss the happy mac screen. The new one is so much more COOL!

The beauty of OSX is the fact that the system is so open and configurable by anyone. Yet remains totaly stable and usable.
As a result, customization is an endless possibility.
For you Smilie Mac fans (like me) here is a link (posted elsewhere by muffin man) to help you restore the old look. Or perhapse give it your own personal touch.

Don't be afraid of Hex, it ain't that bad :D
Also, make sure you backup the BootX file just in case.
