No, it's not a G5. It's a speed-bumped G4 (1.5-1.67), and has standard 512MB RAM, 5400rpm hard drives, and the 15" and 17" have external dual-link DVI. And, prices are $100 lower than before!
I say, it's about fucking time. The PB is a "pro" computer again!

It's got everything a good laptop needs, so I guess it kicks ass.
I however dislike the 512 MB RAM. 1 GB would be nicer, but I guess you can order that as an extra.

They're not gonna put in 1GB by default. They want to leave the 2nd slot open, and 1GB DIMMs cost way too much for a default configuration.

I myself am looking at either the 14" ibook or the 12" PB, so i've been paying attention to all the hardware components

That's only in the 12" (which is really an iBook Plus). The 15" and 17" models have two SO-DIMM slots, the first filled with 512MB by default.
