Post by: psyjax on 10 October 2002, 06:50
For months I have been using AlumiteX, but izawa has finally outdone himself with Power 1.0!

Go here:

http://www.resexcellence.com/themes/ (http://www.resexcellence.com/themes/)

and get your copy today!!

OSX Jag only.

However, they have plenty of OSX 1.2  themes

Did you use Duality to install?
I tried both 3.1 and 4.0 to install themes, and even the oned that I'm sure are Jag-compatible will not install, since Diality tells me they aren't.
I want to use the Jaguar Fur theme.

Well it depends what OSX your running, If you are running Jaguare you need the new Duality beta.

v4.0 MS2. I don't think this version will run old Duality 10.1 themes.

If you want to be able to use themes under Duality 3.0, there is this dumb bug. What you do is, quit Duality, and open your Library->Themes folder. Then phisicaly drop the .theme file into the folder. That should let it apear in the Duality selection window.

DO NOT INSTALL 10.1 DUALITY THEMES UNDER JAGUWARE!

There is a converter tool that will change Duality 10.1 themes into 10.2 themes. Though I don't have the link on me.

Under duality 4.0 (if you are running jagwyre), installing a theme is easy. Simply click on the plus sign underneath the theme selection window, find the .theme file you wish to add, enter your PW and Apply. Re-login and you are done.

Well, I got it working. Turns out I had never tried Duality 4.0, only 3.0 and 3.1, because I don't recall Duality being a Pref Pane. I LOVE the Power Theme!

It is funny how they took time to copy MS though.

The thing is, MS didn't copy Apple. The Windows GUI has never and will never look like the Mac's GUI.

As a matter of fact, both Apple and MS copied the GUI concept(which wasn't a bad idea at all) from Xerox. Do you think that only Macs should have a GUI? Jeese.

Seriously, Xerox invented the GUI. Apple sure the hell didn't invent it.

Simply put, Apple and Microsoft both stole GUI from Xerox.

Indeed Xerox developed first a GUI which Apple started working on UNDER LICENSE FROM XEROX, until they made the big mistake of inviting M$ in on it and the rest is history. You know that, I know that, hell everybody knows that!

Read this for some info on the issue in question (http://www.mackido.com/Interface/ui_history.html)

I know you'll say that it comes from a pro Mac site blah blah blah, but read it carefully and if you can post back using equivalent arguments, then do paragraph by paragraph. If you can't any attempt to post back will be futile    :D

Here is a good link:

http://www.webmasterbase.com/article/511/28 (http://www.webmasterbase.com/article/511/28)

The first few paragraphs are a good story but not exactly true. You need to read the whole thing (including the following pages)..

Man that was not just a good link but an excellent one and an excellent article as well. Unbiased (first of all) and objective this article lays out the true history of the GUI from its very first concept in 1949 up to the symbolic 1979 and the years from then on.

EXCELLENT! To anyone who hasn't read it: Read it ASAP. The truth needs to be restored!

And I didn't actually link to the first page of the article, just where I thought it started to get interesting. You can select the first page from the pulldown menu at the bottom of the page.

I finally read it all. My eyes are sore but it was definitely worth it! Hence I wholeheartedly gave it a 10 and I would give it more if I had an option to  (http://smile.gif) .
