I'm just wondering...does Apple and any of its hardware/software use things or plan to use things like DRM or Palladium?

No. Palladium is the M$ plan for world domination. A little company in California has them by the short ones over patent violations but Billy will just do what he always does, spend some of that $45 billion cash reserve and buy them out.
