I dont know how to take this posting but a msn employee making a OS for entertainment systems using a Linux core ?
Happy OS ? (http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?s=8cc9593f62494940f9ce9dd7344caa53&threadid=109016). Who knows maybe its all BS but I thought its worth a post anywho.

I think it is bullshit.

it actually looks like a bit of a nonentity to be honest. in my personal opinion it looks as though an individual is willing to pay nullsoft to gear up their linux port. they have of course dragged their ass in the mud and will hopefully die along with windows, since XMMS already whups their ass by being open source and ad free.
Anyway nullsoft are owned by AOL so i hear (http://forum.fuckmicrosoft.com/ubb/icons/icon8.gif)
I am a little confused about how he thinks this is an OS on its own. perhaps he wants a linux based DRM/Palladium thing!

Linux for entertainment ?
I never thought i would see the day when linux was used for major entertainment.
Oh well

Winamp has ads? (http://winamp.com/download/)
But yes, they are owned by AOL. (as is my ISP sadly. You get a respectable address at rr.com, and AOL has to go and tarnish it.)
Edit :D Damn UBB

Well just damn you too then. You and DVORAK.

well i reckon winamp has ads because it comes with that crappy browser with all the "sponsored" links in it, plus it dumps a whole load of AOL affiliated junk on your desktop (and no doubt in your "Program Files" directory too), so yes i'd say it is ad supported especially compared to XMMS.

I like winamp.
Its my no 1 media player.........
for windows that is.
At least that post was not about WMP 9.
-
I actually use a media player I created myself. Im very happy with it. It has mp3/mp4/avi/ support at the moment (http://smile.gif)
So, I havent' used winamp in quite sometime.
It is sad to see nullsoft's balls tied to the AOL funeral pyre though :/

It may create some shortcuts. I hadn't really thought of them much. I was thinking more along the lines of a ads like a dialog each time you start the media player begging, you to buy it.(like a certain media player of a certain fruity company. It's Apple..)
