Is Ryan and Ryan247 the same person?
I've never known a Ryan in my entire life that wasn't a prick.
-
First of all, it's not valid HTML (http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ryanandfriends.1hwy.com%2F). There are 20 errors that you should easily be able to fix, if you're having trouble, look at the HTML 4.01 Specification (http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/). I'm glad that you at least know enough to remove the generator meta tag from your pages after they go through a WYSIWYG editor, but you need to do better. You can always get higher quality code when it's done by hand. Lots of it may validate well, but it's pretty messy.
Now you need to work on design aspects. First, the background has to go. It looks crappy and fake, doesn't even make sense with whatever theme you have going on. It's also not necessary to make your title a bunch of different colors, my eyes feel like they're going to explode (what they hell is with 2.0? try putting in a news section to announce site redesign). You also went ahead and used a dull pink background for your navigation table, which looks crappy with the blue links. You should learn CSS (which isn't always available with WYSIWYG editors) so that you can control the appearance. Many good looking sites look good because they use subtle colors or shades of grey. Take a look at the homepages for Slackware (http://slackware.com/), Fire (http://fire.sourceforge.net/), or Apple (http://www.apple.com/hotnews/) Speaking of your navigation table, you might want to organize it. Instead of a gian clump of site, put them in groups. It will allow visitors to figure out where they're going and not why they're leaving.
I'm pretty new to writing HTML, but I know enough to recognize awful sites when I see them. To improve, check out this (http://www.google.com/search?q=10+most+common+mistakes+in+web+design&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8) Google search. If you want, I could re-write the whole thing and easily make something that looks much better and has the same content (besides looking at a blank page).

No.
-
NO! There two different people.
You are wrong about all Ryan's being pricks.
I'm only a prick when provoked.
-
It's a start.
It needs work.
1) The choice of blue letters for links (and purple letters for followed links) on a purple background is not easy to read.
2) Your pages do not conform to HTML standards. This is pretty important... I'd suggest you check them yourself at http://validator.w3.org (http://validator.w3.org)
3) You should clean up the pages and give them a uniform look.. try using a cascading style sheet css
4) Some of your links are broken.
5) Don't embed mp3's on the main page with a loop=true. Embedded music gets annoying.

I think the layout sucks. But you're a beginner so... here is some tips: 1) use CSS, that should help you 2)Create a cross-browser compatible 3)Buy adobe photoshop; killer graphics program; better than paint.
-
I think... well, that wouldn't matter anyway.
-
I think my site is better http://jimmyjames.sytes.net (http://jimmyjames.sytes.net)
-
I think so too. Did you do it clean in HTML? I dig the really old designs of web pages, back when the interent didn't suck.
http://cybersphere.netfirms.com (http://cybersphere.netfirms.com)
-
yes. all of it is hand coded, made to look like the good old days. I miss those times, when a web site was just that. a website... not some 25MB flash-req'd, super animated ordeal.
ATROCITIES
-
I remember them. When your idea of creating graphics was leeching tons of animated gifs from other sites and putting them all on the front page. *sigh* Good times, good times.

then your still a prick, just a part time prick.
-
Is there a link to the site that I don't see?
Ryan247
-
this?
http://www.ryanandfriends.1hwy.com/ (http://www.ryanandfriends.1hwy.com/)
-
Yeah, I would have to agree with what everyone else said. But who am I to speak. Even though I think i could do better. (http://tongue.gif)
-
Version 3.0 is better, although the blue link text for services on a blue sky background is BAD.
You really should consider switching to CSS. It will clean up your html code alot and likely make your page load faster. You can also change the layout of the page quickly and easily in the future, if you start using CSS.
It still doesn't conform to w3 standards. Noticably you don't have a DOCTYPE statement. Standards should be a priority for every web author, although IMHO it is better for beginners to first make their page, then clean it up and make it standards compliant.
-
the embedded MP3 is dumb. get rid of it. there's nothing that I hate more than embedded music. I have to fucking mute my system sound to get rid of it.
I hate it. I hate it. I hate it
-
Forget this site, it sucks shit.
-
Hi,
My name is Ryan! My friends and I got together and beat our faces against a keyboard one day and this website came out!
Marvel at my use of primary colors! Look in awe at my ability to mix and match fonts! And finally, be astounded at these animated GIF files.
My website sucks buffalo shlong, but I'm too much of a useless pussy to admit it!
Your friend,
Ryan
-
JJ, that was uncalled for. Why are you being such a prick?

No need to discourage Ryan here. Some people think that a website must contain useless GIF's, stupid JavaScript's that slow things down and colours that make your eyes hurt.
He'll make a better one in a couple of years, I've seen this behaviour before.

I'm going to sort of agree with Jimmy here.

refalms is right, all websites start out shitty, but the people making them will make it better

Or they just grow up like I did.
