Due to what was being talked about in the communist post, I want to mention a good site that describes the whole political spectrum. It is actually a two dementional compass that has the left(communist) and the right(neo-liberal) and then the other axis which is authoritarian(facist) and Libertarian(anarchism). It explains the system, shows examples of where some people stand such as Bush and the dem primary canidates, and has a test to show where you are the compass. Check it out here (http://www.politicalcompass.org/).
When I took it I was placed almost exactly between the dem party and the green party. that would be slightly left(communist) and slightly libertarian(anarchist). This does not mean I am a communist! To be a communist, you would have to be ALL THE WAY over on the edge of the graph by communism. Look at where Hitler is by facism. He is all the way at the very top of the graph. I your results of the test place you up there or all the way to the left by communism, then you may have some issues with yourself.
My results were:
Economic Left/Right: -3.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.44
So what are your results?
-
Economic Left/Right: -6.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.95
Wow...
-
Economic Left/Right: -2.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.38
-
Economic Left/Right: -1.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.64
-
Economic Left/Right: -5.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.05
-
Economic Left/Right: -3.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.08
I think politics are unfair for gay people. They don't really have the choice of being right-wing.
-
Wow. You people so far are all about in the same place as me. Now I would like to see WMD and Great_Satan to take the test.
-
Here's how I scored on the Political Compass:
Economic Left/Right: 5.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.31
So many questions, though. How about The World's Smallest Political Quiz (http://www.self-gov.org/quiz.html)
Here's how I did on that one:

I find this result more representative of my political stance.

Economic Left/Right: -7.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.82

Interesting. The Political Compass had me right down the political middle, leaning socioeconomically left.
Then, the other one puts me firmly as a fascist.
Edit: Ooh, I see now... no, they're not that far off from each other. I'm only one square into Authoritarian, and still leaning toward the left. It just seems that the second test goes harder on fascists :-D

You really are only facist if you are all the way up against the facist line on the graph. Since you are also to the left, it looks like you like both economic and social control. Someone in the opposite corner(economic right and liberterian) would be a true anarchist, I thnink.

I might actually be further right but

Government should not control radio, TV, the press or the Internet.
I think that's too general. (Definately not the 'net, so I said no, but I wonder about the others, and about what they mean by "control.")

What's the difference between them controlling the internet and the others?
-
Economic Left/Right: 2.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.26

Laukev7, are you a communist?
It seems that I do have strong leftist tendencies, upon analysis, some of which may come from social democratic values of the Parti Quebecois, but I do not endorse communism or suscribe to any particular political doctrine. I encourage progress and welcome social programmes, but I do not feel that communism is necessary or even worthwhile.
I must say that I find that test slightly biased, though. I mean, social security is a given in Quebec, and questions like 'Porn should be legal for adults' really disturbed me, as if there were actually people out there who would be against that. Maybe it's because so many questions were obvious to me that I often chose the option 'strongly agree'.

Well on the internet, the "questionable content" is placed so that you're a dumbass if you see something bad "accidently." With the others, you're not always so lucky. (http://redface.gif)
Also...what do they mean by "control" them? Just have regulations/censoring, or running the systems themselves?
-
So are you saying the government should be able to censor "questionable content" in the media, or just that the media should be forced to warn people about anything questionable they might include in their content?
-
Well, at least be forced to warn, I think that's fair. Then, of course, there's the stuff that plain isn't allowed on TV (off-air networks)- I'm not sure if everything should be allowed or not.
