I'll second that. ;)

You know Iget so pissed off when I people say that Windows is still so much more user friendly than Linux. Almost all these "new" features are already in KDE.

I must admit that, after reading the article, that I am completely underwhelmed by Longhorn!
quote:
In preparation for the file system, Microsoft has reorganized key folders into libraries. For example, from the Start menu, a Longhorn user can access a Picture & Video Library, Game Library and Music Library.
Sounds a lot like Linux directories doesn't it? (http://smile.gif)
quote:
With the libraries concept, Microsoft is introducing new ways for Windows users to organize and find their data. For example, the "My Pictures & Video Library" organizes digital images and movies by, among other criteria, year. In fact, all folders in the operating system come with a "filter by" option for a variety of criteria, such as type, subject, category or comments.
So how does that differ from the Linux "find" and "locate" commands? (http://smile.gif)
quote:
The sidebar is one of the most significant changes to the Windows user interface. In its default setting, the sidebar adds to the Windows desktop a search option, quick access to frequently used programs, a rotating slideshow of images and a clock.
I've had all that (except for the slideshow -- that sounds really, really, really annoying; I wonder if you can turn that off? (http://tongue.gif) ) since KDE 2.2 that came with 'Drake 8.1. (http://tongue.gif)

Microsoft also has added new options for connecting to devices with digital images. When plugging in a USB drive containing digital photos, new option "Silent Transfer" skips Microsoft's typical wizard process and goes to the final step of moving the images to the computer.
I could do that in Linux with a small BASH shell script. (http://tongue.gif)
Wow! With innovation like that, how will Linux ever hope to compete? :D
