if your dsl is anything like my cable modem, your  also gonna need a router. most broadband services are only licensed for 1 computer. and when they come, make sure they have a windows computer to install the service on if they don't specificly say linux. also make sure you don't get an internel dsl modem. bitch if they try to give you one.

Then you just run a proxy server. I am running a proxy server which is hooked up to the cable (through ethernet card) and then it connects to my network (through the other ethernet card). No hardware router needed.

huh? why would you need a router and proxy for quake... unless you mean that your server computer will act as a router and proxy (which is what mine does). You will still need a hub for your LAN of course (unless you have a different type of network)

They wont try to install an internal one because i will fill the PCI slots with molten lead. Also the router will pe a PII-300mhz running Red-Hat or FreeBSD.
