Has anybody here ever seen/heard George Carlin. He is an american stand up comedian and is very funny. I dunno what TV channel he comes on but he has a CD out.

He was *very* big in the 70's and 80's.  He used to be extremely funny but I haven't heard much about him over the last 10-15 years...

Oh yes, I have always thought he was one of the funniest/witful comedians around.  Definitely one of my favorites.  I think he may have dropped out of the big time because of a drug problem though.  Maybe he's cleaned himself up.

He's pretty funny. I saw "you are all diseased" once on HBO (where I see most of his stuff) and it was good. They rerun a few other standups on hbo comedy.

Has anyone read his book "Brain Droppings"? It is a scream. The only comedian i like more than George Carlin is Sam Kinison.

George Carlin has had serious heart problems for a number of years; he's still touring, but he's not as mainstream as he was in the '70's.  I really felt bad when Sam Kinison was killed; he was the funniest guy EVER!

That was the original list. Didn't he add some to it or take some away?  Those are the 7 dirty words you couldn't say on TV.  I also got a kick out of the ones that weren't banned but sounded like they should be.  I can only remember one, "yodeling in the gully".  What were some others?

I also really liked his weather reports.

George Carlin is so damn funny, one of the main things I like about him is his strong beliefs on religion and goverment.  He basiclly points out how everything is fucked up, on the last one I saw he breaks down the 10 commandments, its hilarious.  They play his performances all the time on hbo.

the commandments bit is great

i have a few of his specials on tape.... the one where he shows the picture of his dog fucking his cat is unbelievable

he plays a catholic bishop in the movie dogma...  he is a trip in that and in jay and silent bob strike back

he reminds me of my french teacher, only funny instead of creul


i also like dennis leary

thats pretty tame for leary but you get the idea.  thats from his song "i'm an asshole"  he performed it before his comedy special

i didn't know that was his bit, some guy who looked like he was about 30 or so said that TV a few years ago, what a material stealing bitch.
