Title: Hey guys, i am a total wreck.
Post by: Bazoukas on 16 September 2002, 01:20
I had a car accident on Thursday.

 1 broken index finger.
A messed up eyebrow (9 stitches).
 A swollen knee and thigh.
 A broken rib.
A neck that hurts like shit.

But other than that am ok  (http://smile.gif)

The cause of accident? An old man didnt stop on the STOP sign, I made a very tight left turn so i will avoid collision but the car couldnt handle it
and I ended up on the pavement hiting a tree.
Car is not totaled, but its messed up damn good.

I hope for two things for you; 1. The old fool had good insurance, and 2. You've got a really HUNGRY lawywer!

I've never been in a serious car accident, so I really can't say that sucks, because I couldn't possibly imagine how much it does   :(

Feel better!

Here's a test to see if you're OK:

1) Are you alive?
2) Did your manhood survive?
3) Is your head OK?
4) Is linux our saviour?

If you answer 'no' to any of the above then you have to worry.

Hope you get to feeling better soon!  My busted shoulder still hurts like a bitch but at least I can finally move my arm around. And beer makes it feel a lot better, just a little tip there...

Bad luck man! I had the same kind of accident a year ago (an old man came out of a STOP sign and hit me on the rear from the passenger's side), but fortunately there was no injury involved!

I hope you get well soon   ;)

HEHEHE that sucks man!

here's mine:

3 friends and I were travelling a back road in a Kia Sephia (spam in a can), and we had just polished off a case of Litte Kings and a fifth of Chivas Regal.

Bad idea...

Anyway, throughout the course of our drive, at about 85 miles per hour, we flipped the car like 3 or 4 times, end over end, and I, not wearing my seat belt, was thrown from the car.

The next day was my friend's wedding.... I didn't make it.

Then I broke a Delta 88 sideways across a telephone pole some time later, but it started back up and took me right on home.  I worked the next day.

moral of the story:

Kia = windows  (crashes, and you're f00ked)
Delta 88 = linux  (encounters an obstacle, and you just keep on working)

me = drunken dumbass    :confused:

sporkme hit a brick wall at about 40-50 miles per hour in a 77 Datsun.  The car really was not too bad off, he was not hurt at all, and he put another 40k miles on it... until...

One late night in front of my house, a 2000 mitsibushi hit the poor old Datsun, and destroyed it.  Both people were hurt and drunk.   :D

Nuns with Uzis:
Chill with the alcohol and smoke something for once, and maybe you wouldn't get into so many car accidents   :D

While were on the topic of getting mangled in crashes...

Ok I like driving BIG FUCKING VEHICLES! Half ton-three quarter ton! I like stuff that is long and wide, plenty of room for teh Lazy, plenty of room for his squad(sadly he don't have one yet), and plenty of room for all the AR's in the back.  ;)
(no im just joking, im not really a gun freak... yet. You try being a gun freak at 17)

But I sure do like Big/heavy stuff. I've always assumed that the heavier vehicles are safer in a crash. And the vehicles I do drive(although I have my learner's license right now) are half and three quarter ton Chevy Surburbans from the 70's. My question is, am I safer in a crash in a heavy vehicle? Or does the extra force from the heavy vehicle harm me more? It's true that the bigger you are the harder you fall. So woulden't this hold true for vehicles?

Besides the possiblity of crash protection, is there any other advantages to driving heavy vehicles?

I guess it all depends on if you are on the giving or receiving end of the crash. I make it a point not to crash into semis. Especially head on.  (http://smile.gif)

yeah. you look cool as fuck. Either that or people just think it's a penile compensator! depends on how you look at it i suppose...

Depends on so much. If it's a HUMMER then it's likely you'll walk away, if it's an SUV (4 X 4) then lets face it, if you role you are lucky if you just break something (and the older the SUV the worse it is). This is because these vehicules are designed for off road, they should never be driven more than 50 miles an hour AT THE MOST. Keep to very slow speeds and the vehicule is okay as soon as you have a respectable speed then your chances of dying in one of those vehicules are vastly increased.

Heavy vehicules are only safer if they are stronger. I drive a Wrangler. It's the only off-road vehicule I would drive (indeed it's the only off roader I have seen that can come out of an accident the same shape it was before it roled, I consider any of the other SUV types to be tantamount to suicide (indeed you are probably safer in a Chevy Metro than a Ford Expolorer if you have an accident).

OK i used to own a 86' delta 88. those freakin cars are tough as nails. i accidently clipped a brick wall once and a piece of the wall came out and my bumper had a slight scuff.  :D   that thing also had a mafia sized trunk great for holding 3 stiffs.

as for the 77' Datsun....Aye!! those where classic japanese racers! why did that have to happen to such a beautiful car?!!  :(

I actually looked at a few sites in a search engine, to see if I could get some more opinions on the whole bigger is tougher thing. So it looks like heavier vehicle=more protection.

Besides penile compensation and protection, what else does a big vehicle offer? Well they're awesome for hauling shit. They have plenty of room. But... what if they are easier to handle at high speeds because the extra weight keeps it more stable?

It seems alot of vehicles below the half ton mark  lack cab room. There is nothing unusual about my size(5'9" 225lbs), but I feel a little crammed in a quarter ton or lighter vehicle. Either there is tons of people that are smaller then me(which alot of vehicles would be made for), or smaller vehicles are simply too cramped as a rule.

hahah, me and my chevy corsica. it only sounds fast. and yet, my mom has hit more things with it in a week then i have since ive been driving last month, and im the rookie driver/*fuck those gay looking magnets you gotta stick on the back when you only have a learners permit*/. though i do have my dad around since i only have a learners permit. you see, my mom, being the attentive one, decided to back into my sisters camero/*umm, yeah, not a camaro with a v8 or anything, just a little v6*/ and scratch the paint off the front. then she decided to back in, she missed and almost took the drivers side mirror off the car

What a world we live in. Knowing how i've tooken past harmless(but "could of been dangerous") driving mistakes, I would be devastated if I crashed into something, even a minor crash.

I like those stickers, it lets everyone know that im a stupid newbie, and reduces the chances of someone thinking I know more then I do and not being cautious.

You don't really "fall" in an automobile, so the "bigger you are" adage doesn't apply.

Generally, the more massive the vehicle, the better armored it is.

Larger vehicles also tend to have more "crumple space," meaning there is more car that can be destroyed, absorbing the kinetic energy of the collision, before the passenger compartment is compromised.

Good engineering is more important than size, however.  You can find some small vehicles which are structurally more sound than some large vehicles.   This is why it's good to read Consumer Reports before buying a car.

Larger vehicles are more visible, so they are safer in that respect.
