For years, futurists have dreamed of machines that can read minds, then act on instructions as they are thought. Now, human trials are set to begin on a brain-computer interface involving implants.
Very interesting article. (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=1894&e=2&u=/ap/20040414/ap_on_he_me/brain_implants)
Let's hope Billy Gates doesn't set his mind on developing software for this. Otherwise, the Blue Screen of Death will take on a whole new meaning.

Imagine Microsoft still being the dominate software company in the future of Star Trek.
Worf: Direct hit on our srarboard nacelle. Sheilds down to 17%
Geordi: Oh fuck! Captain, we are having a warp core breech in progress.
Picard: Eject the core, Geordi!
Geordi: Shit! I am trying captian, but I keep getting "illegal operation". Estimate 30 seconds to core breech.
Picard: Mr Data, activate emergancy transporters!
Data: emergancy transporters are offline. Atempting to override.
Data enters some commands in to his console and a big BSOD appears on the viewscreen. "Fatal OE exception has..." and so on. Picard stares at the blue color for a couple of seconds with no hope left and then-- BLAM!!!

Someone has to do a photoshop now...get me a good pic of a wide-eyed, scared person, and I'll add BSODs to it. :D
