Long story short. I spilled some liquid on my Hard drive based MP3 player. (archos recorder) The player is fine, i've tested it with another Hard drive, but the Hard Drive that was in there won't be recognized at all. Any advice or experiance? I've tried it in the lappy as primary and in modular bay. Tried it in a desktop. Tried a Linux Recovery CD, Windows XP install, and Hitachi drive test.

Does it do anything?
Like click, or make some sort of noise?

I can feel it spin up and hear some clicking.

Usually means the internal magnet is displaced or re-magnetized.

Well.. I shoulda checked the hitachi site first. It's still under warranty (http://smile.gif) It won't do anything for all the music I have on it, but I can always umm rip all my cd's again.
I just hope they won't notice any spillage.

You know, if all else fails, you can void the warranty and make a hardware-hacked arcade "spinner" control from the hub. I've been on something of a Build Your Own Arcade Controls (http://www.arcadecontrols.com/arcade.htm) kick of late, so this fits right into the possibility of having your own home MAME cabinet.
