Maybe SCO has something to do with it. This site is ran on a Linux server isn't it?
Yep, it is. Netcraft says so at least.

Maybe the webmaster should've kept this site on MacOSX. Who knows, maybe SCO didn't do anything. Maybe somebody just hacked the site. People put far too much trust in Linux. A server should be running Unix or BSD.
I think our webmaster should go back to hosting this place on OSX(a Unix variant).

Maybe I have an idea of who that old friend may be. I'm not gonna go around accusing people of shit so I'm keeping my mouth shut. (http://tongue.gif)

Does this look familiar
Knoppix.com HACKED! (http://www.knoppix.com/)
-
Little Debian thing here
web page (http://www.debian.org/)
-
An Ark Linux one
web page (http://www.arklinux.org/)
I actually hear ark linux is a really good distro
I downloaded the iso, but I must have burnt it too fast or something, it won't boot past the start screen (looks very similar to the RH start screen)
-
i dont think it was hacked, i think it's an organized protest the webmaster is participating in.
-
If it is an organised protest then Calum's Polytheism page is participating.
-
yes it is an organised protest.
don't any of you know what's going on? lots of huge websites are participating.
i am only sad to see that it's only the main page here and not the forums that are participating.
have a look at the following two links to see what's going on:
http://promote-opensource.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=251 (http://promote-opensource.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=251)
http://www.tekforums.co.uk/index.php?act=ST&f=14&t=33987 (http://www.tekforums.co.uk/index.php?act=ST&f=14&t=33987)
-
My homepage has the old style notice, this is a new one in 3 languages. Should swap over to the one Calum uses.
What way do think this will go? Personally I don't think the bill will get through.
I really hope it doesn't, otherwise it could open the floodgates to SCUM companies like $CO and M$ to start spoiling the party.
P.S this applies to some of you here. Stop guessing and start reading what this is all about. Yes this is a EU change of law and yes it will probably still have knock on implications to you over there in the USA.
Remember an awful lot of Open Source development comes out of Europe.

it WILL get pushed through UNLESS people start making a lot of racket about it. phone and write to your MEPs about it. follow this link and you will see where you can find out who your MEP is et cetera:

I talked to the webmaster, he was unaware of the "hack".
He said the person who hosts the site probably did it. SO he went ahead and rectefied the sittuation, he is considering putting a protest sign up anyway.
So ya, It had nothing to do with what kind of server he was running Zombie559797 (http://tongue.gif)

Quit spreading FUD when you aren't prepared to offer real world, balanced analysis.
edit : oh well at least you readily admit Windows isn't up to the task. ;)

Well good to see no hacking was involved. After that big DDoS on neowin im very angry of hackers attacking good sites

"That ideas should freely spread from one to another over the
globe, for the moral and mutual instruction of man, and
improvement of his condition, seems to have been peculiarly and
benevolently designed by nature, when she made them, like fire,
expansible over all space, without lessening their density at any
point, and like the air in which we breathe, move, and have our
physical being, incapable of confinement or exclusive
appropriation. Inventions then cannot, in nature, be a subject of
property."

"The Ten Commandments contain 297 words.
The Bill of Rights is stated in 463 words.
Lincoln's Gettysburg Address contains 266 words.
A recent federal directive to regulate

"I have yet to see any problem, however complicated, which when you
looked at it in the right way, did not become still more complicated."
- Poul Anderson
"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to
whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor,
for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword.
It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind.
And when the drums of war have reached a fevered pitch
and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed,
the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry.
Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by patriotism,
will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so.
How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar."
