Title: CD Burner problem - can someone help?
Post by: Xeen on 9 October 2003, 22:48
I've lately been having a problem with my cd burner. Yes, I use Windows, but the problem is not Windows related. In fact, I know someone who has the same problem on a Mac.

The problem is that the drive cannot read well cdrs that it has burned itself. It reads original CDs perfectly well, it reads CDRs burnt elsewhere just fine, but when I pop in a cdr that I burnt on this same drive, it reads it reaaaaaaallllly slow. In other words, it has a problem reading CDRs that it made itself.

It reads them, but when you try to open a file, install a program, or copy files to the hard drive, it takes literally forever. For example, it took it 25 minutes to copy 120mb from a cdr that it made. However if I burn a cd on it and put in ANOTHER drive, that drive has no problems reading it at all.

The problematic cd burner is a fast cdrw/dvd combo drive.

Any ideas? THanks.
