that was an extreamly long and boring read. They say this is the biggest project everdone with 50+million lines of code. Who the hell does it take to write an OS that needs 50+million lines of code. And the fucking compile time is horrible912 hours) You will most definately never see this near any machine i own.

50 million lines of code + 5000 developers=What a mess!  (http://smile.gif)

How many lines of code does Linux have though? Isn't it susposed to be pretty massive as well?

KDE 3.1 has 2.6 million lines of code.  The Linux kernel has about 1.5 million lines of code in it.  A whole linux distribution probably has 100+ million lines of code.

When it comes to OSes (and only then   :D  ) smaller is definitely better. That is the philosophy UNIX was based upon, as well as all of its descendants. If you don't believe me, take a look at the Multics fiasco.   ;)

The amazing thing is that to the general public.  50+ million lines of code sounds like an amazing piece of technology.

It's slow as shit.

50 some million lines of code, I bet that has no errors.
