Don't use Windows, its that simple.  You can do whetever you can with windows with linux.  Or try a Mac.  If you absolutely must use windows, then at least don't use XP, XP has that crap product activation, win2K and win98 don't.  But you really should use an alternative OS, or your going to have to start getting used to shelling out loads of cash to M$.

If you have to have windows...

make a partition about 3-5gb big.

get everything installed the way you like it.

Use a redhat boot cd and use 'linux rescue'.

mount your drives.

use 'dd' in the shell to copy your image to the other drive.

when your computer fucks up 2 weeks later just copy it back over.

Windows?

Isn't that Gnome and/or KDE?

I thought they were free - or perhaps I don't understand your question.

I concur with this statement. On analysis of the question and based on the fact that the only Windows environment that I know of that needs registration to work I must assume he means Microsoft Windows XP.

Well as I do not support piracy I must state that you brought it you register it, then you can use it as long as they let you. Bad luck if you need to reinstall often, you will have to keep registering your product. I would suggest you try something else.

That's cute at first Calum, but you're just tiring it out.

Well I'd say that the link to Linuxiso is more in keeping with the spirits and beliefs of the site than your posts, and I'm certainly not tired of seeing that link and others like it. In fact it should be posted often so that people can see find it very easily.
