I am going to start a new site to replace the Mac Revolution that will feature only people's opinions instead of the crappy out of date evangelists I had at my old site. One section will be opposing views and I currently only have one that I can use.
I know there are people here that hate Macs, and I don't mean just the Trolls. Tell me why and get your opinion out there. Send to [email protected] EDIT actually just post em in this thread.
And if anyone else has any Appinions (that's gonna be my site's name probably) go ahead and send em in. I'll probably be taking stuff from these forums a lot too.

you know I'm a dyed in the wool Apple dude, but I think apple the company SUCKS FUCKING ASS.
for one, they ran off all the truly creative people (Gasee, Woz, et cetera) and now they really seem to be WAY too focused on milking the customers. ya, they're a business, and I don't blame 'em... but they seem to be HELL BENT on charging full price for everything, customer opinion be damned.
-
A perfect example.
-
I think macs are good for both movie editing and the personal computer. Unlike the Winblows movie maker -- witch you have to have another program to make the movie look good, Macs have great movie editing tools.

I don't know about that. From what I've seen right now Apple's flagship machine has been very competitively priced considering how new it is.

I know dick about Apple, and its computers, but ever since the first Imac I have felt that Apple has been selling an image rather than a viable alternative.
They are a designer Computer, like a Ferrari, they cost too much, and you can never get to top speed except on the track.
same thing with a MAC, they cost too much, and they never prove themselves outside of the Lab.
But that is the market that they have found, and that is the reason why they will never grow past number two. Only so many people can afford one.
sorry guys but that is the way I feel.

I've probably just been using Windows for too long, but...
The one thing that makes a Mac a nightmare for me is the fact that hitting the close button in the upper right hand corner of a window only closes that window, and does not close the program. After a day of Maccin' I find out that I still have like 20 programs open, and I have to use some crazy thing called the finder to figure out what is still open and close them all down. I just can't seem to use File > Quit or whatever to exit a program - I want to hit that close button.
Not sure if this is still the case or not, because I havent used a Mac since the blueberry Imac first came out, which had OS7 or 8.
Dont think I'm a mac hater, tho - I am still planning on scoring an Ibook as soon as I have the cash.

ermmm, I'd call that a feature, closing a window closes the app! What Winblow$ uselessness. Close the entire app by doing:
apple-q
the Window as you have said or:
apple-w
much faster than clicking stuff!

LOL! There is so much wrong with this missconception I'm not even gonna adress it (http://smile.gif)
I'll just say, ILM, Virginia tech ;) , the Music Industry, the Desktop Publishing industry, .... meh... I could go on...
-
I think the whole "there to expensive" argument doesn't hold any water. Virginia Tech has built a 17 Teraflop system for $5 million. Dell has announced a 3 Teraflop system for $38 million!!!!!! You do the maths.
One of the main reasons Virginia Tech chose Apple was value for money and cost effectiveness.

I don't like one-button mice as much as two-buttons, that extra button is just way too useful. I don't have to drag items all the way to the trash without going to the keyboard anymore. Not just when using the OS, but in games it's very helpful.
-
That's actually incorrect. The Dell supercomputer cost about $3 mil to the school.
quote:
"There are many more things that were needed to create ICES and establish a terascale distributed computing architecture at TACC. This point was made by TACC Director, Jay Boisseau, during the Lonestar dedication ceremony. The value of the specific computer referred to was approximately $3.0 million. And, no tuition funds were used in this process. Most of the money did not even come from UT. The package included $8M in discounts and donations from about 10 leading technology vendors, and over $15M from a generous foundation." And, she continued: "The VaTech number ONLY includes the actual computer, not the cost of the building, power, cooling, people, or anything else needed to actually operate it."

Apple users play with numbers yet again. :D
-
We're not Apple users! Apple is the company that makes Macs, which is what we use! That's so annoying, almost as annoying as saying MAC.

Machine Address Code?

I use a 5 button Logitech mouse on my Mac. The one button mouse has alot of style, but is rather useless for most users. The scroll wheel is a nice touch. I would ove to see apple come out with a 2btn + scroll wheel mouse with as much style as the one button mouse, but that would draw away the whole "Macs are so easy to use, you only need one button" thing.
-
macs are slow, especially at equal price points with PC's.

Didn't we just talk about this ? Anyways, sun microsystems is probably going to be the next big thing within a few years. If i were you i would stop worrying about AMD or Intel.

Of course I realize they can use two button mice, in fact I'm using one right now on a powerbook. The point is that Macs don't come with two-button mice so I have to go out and buy my own.

this is more of a piss off than anything but I think that Mac OSX should have included X11, or are they waiting for version 12.
Every other Unix LINUX Distro has it, and if Mac Really wants to Join the *nix community then they should allow their users access to that community.

Uh? Third party ports of X11 has been available for Mac OS X YEARS ago. Apple even made their own version (http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/x11/) of X11 with their own WM available as a download six months ago! And yes, it's going to be included in 10.3.

Wonderful! So, next time that I'll be building myself a super computer, I will totally consider myself a Mac.
Until then, I think I will stick to me $600 PC.
And I won't even mention the Athlon64/G5 benchmark comparisons.
