GIMP, Photoshop, Fireworks, or whatever else you use image battle.
The rules:
1) Keep it in a relatively lossless format. Don't convert it to GIF or anything like that.
2) Keep it complex, eye-crazy, and somewhat geometric. The major exception to that of course would be humans, preferably women.
3) Only one person at a time can work on it, so we get everything in.
The image:

Let's get it going...
BTW: If you don't have a way to get the image online, PM me. I'll give you my e-mail addy and I'll host the file.

I can never seem to connect to your site :(
-
What kind of error do you get?
-
He must've blocked your IP.

-
And what are we supposed to do with the image again?
-
Edit it. Change it around. Make it cool/better/more complex.
If you look at the thread "Need Opinions" there is an example of an image before and after it was "battled" with.

I don't have Photoshop where I am now, but I will have access to Photoshop tomorrow.
-

gotta love the maya girl! what program(s) are you using??
-
Macromedia Fireworks on my PowerBook.
-
OK, I'm all out of ideas to make it better. I've been trying for hours...
-
These are based on the original, so I guess they don't really count.
Red Apple Version (http://www.boomspeed.com/bobster47/redcubedapple.gif)
Aqua Apple Version (http://www.boomspeed.com/bobster47/aquacubedapple.gif)
Red Linux Version (http://www.boomspeed.com/bobster47/redcubedlinux.gif)
Yellow Linux Version (http://www.boomspeed.com/bobster47/yellowcubedlinux.gif)
Red Windows Version (http://www.boomspeed.com/bobster47/redcubedwindows.gif)
Green Windows Version (http://www.boomspeed.com/bobster47/greencubedwindows.gif)
Also, Photoshop only seems to be able to convert things into gif and jpeg format. Does anyone know if it can convert into anything that won't take away from the image or do you have to have a different program to do that?

you should be able to save in PNG, Targa, TIF, PDF, JPG, GIF, etc... Maybe your color mode is set to something other than RGB...
-
It's RGB. I'll mess around with it some more.
-
i took the logo idea from MacMan and created this version. i think it is getting clutered though, maybe we should shoot for less. you know, less is more and all that....
Version2 (http://www.sederquistavery.com/roy/images/CubedRed-ecsylev2.jpg)
-
Yes it is getting a bit crowded. Except for the lower left corner, that is.
It's four layers deep too. Try not to add more layers unless absolutely neccesary.

Put this in your pipe and smoke it (http://www.boomspeed.com/macrev/ECvsMUFFIN4.png)
Got this on my desktop now and it looks really cool!
-
Well, I worked the original image... I think that's what were doing?
By the way, how was the original (CubeRed.jpg) created? I know what you used, I'm just curious about the processes (I haven't used Gimp).
Here it is. (http://astroboy.freeshell.org/ars/abstractcube.png)
-
The original CubedRed was created in Bryce 5 using 130 cubes and reflection/refraction tricks to make it look cool and complex.
This is the last image I plan on posting (I finally got a hold of Photoshop)

One filter more in Gimp (http://voidmain.kicks-ass.net/files/ev2.jpg)

You sphered it!
Looks cool, although it does rip the image a little.

I have absolutely zero graphics design ability. I don't have the ability to appreciate art, let alone understand it. I have no creativity, except maybe coming up with a new tune on the guitar, or drawing network maps. (http://smile.gif) It would be nice if I was more creative in the graphics area. I guess that's why I enjoy doing backend work like network/server/database/programming/etc, because that's what I think I'm good at. It's also probably why I don't have a Mac, it would just be wasted on me.

arent you worried that people can find you IP address void main?
-
Why? Can't host a web page without an IP address. Can't get to this forum without an IP address. I have ways of detecting funny business and I have contacts with the FBI so. (http://smile.gif) But you are right, obscurity is an added element of security.
