Any of you interested in DivX? Any of you just hate Windows Media? So do I! So this is great news for all of us that DivXNetworks has just partnered with e.Digital. ( http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/020409/90258_1.html (http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/020409/90258_1.html) ) This means that we'll soon see the first DivX capable DVD player coming out!
But here's the problem: We have yet to set a standard for a DivX CD.
Solution: MCF-CD, a new standard created by Ingo and Tronic. MCF-CD is designed for the MCF file format, but I guess it works with Ogg or MP4, but not AVI. The advantages of MCF-CD over just buring a file to data CD is that because MCF-CD is in Mode 2, you can fit 800 MB of video instead of just 700. This means better quality and more storage.
I started a thread at the DivX.com forums ( http://www.divx.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=32308&forum=5 (http://www.divx.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=32308&forum=5) ) to persuade DivXNetworks to make MCF-CD the standard for a DivX player. Many of us here at fuckMicrosoft.com hate Windows Media and would rather see DivX rule MPEG-4. I know I would. ;) And I'm sure that many of you out there are damn good open-source progammers, too. So come on! Let's get this accomplished.
We need your help, fuckMicrosoft.com.

How many minutes of quality video would that provide?????????????????????????????????

You can fit a good amount of video on one CD and still get good quality. 90 minutes gives best quality, but after 120 you might want to go to two discs.

Wicked, i've watched AVI based DivX movies before
must i say
quality=crap and consid that M$ made AVI...
THATS WHY

The reason the quality looked like crap is becuase most of the stuff you get from warez sites and p2p networks are made by morons who don't know how to make a rip look good. This isn't a warez-based project. I agree, AVI is shit. But MCF-CD doesn't support AVI. You either encapsulate the movie in either Ogg, MP4, or MCF - all superior formats. And because MCF-CD is in mode 2, you can fit 800 MBs on one CD. 800 MB can make DivX look sweet. (http://smile.gif)
