This is a spin-off of the shameless screenshots sections. Everyone your goal is one of two things:
1) To post a screenshot of your desktop (any OS, GUI, etc.), modded to the most beutifull you can make it.
2) Post a screenshot of your desktop moded to the uglyest monstrosity you can make it. Seriously, try and make it hiddious if you can.
One entry per member! (I will mod this, so please no more than one at a time). So make sure you try your best!
After the first 10 enteries, we will judge (by vote), best or worst. The winner gets braging rights (http://tongue.gif)
Then we start over with another ten enteries!
Ready set Go!
(I'll start it off)

Huh?
You really think it looks bad?
I think it's nice. Not OSX ;) , but nicer than windoze.

He was being sarcastic, Psyjax. He wanted to debunk Jimmy James' claim that Linux is nowhere near OS X on the desktop, but because of your answer, his argument falls flat on its face.

I posted one of my favorite screenshots. Its linux like few experience it. Through the blackbox. I personally find blackbox to be faster, smoother, prettier, and more original than kde and gnome. Every new linux maker boasts their kde or gnome desktop, but they all end up looking the same. We need originality to save linux from mediocrity.

I apologize psyjax, I was being sarcastic and no one understood. In another thread Jimmy James claimed that linux was pure crap on the desktop. I saw how good your desktop looked and decided to poke fun at him.

I knocked X11 dude, and the underlying mechanisms for completing system tasks.
perhaps you should learn things?
In fact, I like GNOME with Nautilus. it's my second favorite desktop shell behind the Finder. KDE has a better stronger, more coherent UI guideline though. I just don't care for KDE's desktop and shell.
what sucks is software install/remove, X11, and one or two other nagging things that in the end, make the difference between geekstation and home desktop
btw...

On a side note isnt it a little odd that longhorn will be using OpenGL? I thought microsoft had no support for OpenGL.

I actually think longhorn is pretty nifty looking. It looks like it will please the masses just fine. Much better than the nasty look of XP. At least they are making progress. Im a Networking communications student at the Kansas City Devry University, and I received a "free" copy of Windows XP Pro, which I made into a nice frisby today.
