Title: The Glory That Might Have Been
Post by: Baikonur on 2 September 2003, 14:47
After reading (a glib "flipping through" of) Mr. Baxter's excellent novel (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0061057088/ref=lib_dp_TFCV/002-6264479-2144857?v=glance&s=books&vi=reader#reader-link) Voyage (1996), a novel about possibilities and what MIGHT HAVE BEEN, I was inspired . . .

So I have constructed a solitary, non-functional website, in quiet ponderance of the great things America could have achieved, but did not.

(Photo caption: The Saturn V rocket of the Apollo missions, in this case Apollo 16.  The rocket would tower over modern skycrapers, so high that each BEAM leading from the ganty to its bleached-white siding weighed 30 tons.  32 Saturn V rockets were launched between 1969 and 1973.  None failed.]
