Just curious about peoples uptimes since so many people swear by the stability of many different operating systems.
433mhz Celeron, 288mb ram, Mandrake Linux 8.2
[root@badconnections data]# uptime
11:47pm up 27 days, 10:00, 2 users, load average: 0.30, 0.21, 0.43

I think its nine days (on my server). The power went out about nine days ago, or it would have been more like 20 days. On the computer I'm using right now, its 1:59. I just restarted to see if it worked when i tried to change my boot loader to LILO.

just a guess, but is VoidMain's uptime around 501 days on 1 of his servers?

Ooooh, you just hit a nerve. It *would* have been more than 501 days by now but at around day 495 there was a really bad storm where the power went out at the data center for around 6 hours, and the UPS obviously didn't last it out!!!!!!! Current back down to a miserable 9 days.
-
I'm pretty sure you woul have been at 501... because on June 1 you said that your computer had been up for 479 days (http://forum.fuckmicrosoft.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=5&t=000334)... now its 22 days later.

Ok, 501 it is, minus 9 equals roughly 492 days when she went down.... But it's been many many years since my last multivariable calculus class..
-
I'm in Grade 9, we dont have multi-variable calculus class and i still figured it out pretty quick.

It was in college where I took Multivariable Calculus (that was after Calc I, II, and III, though). But it was because my mind is going from age (and the few beers earlier) that I couldn't subtract 9 from 501. (http://smile.gif)

on the pentium 60 i did hava a 27 day uptime till i decided to plug a broken mouse in it and it crashed the input for it. now its been up about 2 hours. my main system running linux is having "hardware"/*there are some shitty componets in it (http://smile.gif) */ problems. my laptop has a uptime of around 10 days, the 133mhz compaq at the other side of my room has an uptime of about 9 days. the 100mhz OpenBSD box under my desk which i jsut put OpenBSD on it has an uptime of 30 minitus. the 233mhz k6-2/*i know, i pulled a 200mhz pentium one off the board and pluged it in and it ran about half as fast as my main machine*/ *had* an uptime of about 3 months till it burned out and stopped working. o on uptime. capiciter goes bad on a mobo, will that like make it boot itself or kernel panic every 30 minutes. and if that were the case would it be possible to replace the capicter would that make it work agian.

My iMac 233 webserver has been up and running for over a year now with no problems. My main computer has only crashed once due to some bad code while I was programming.
Granted, I did have a time for repairs when a power cable went bad, but that's not the OS's fault so I don't count it (http://tongue.gif)

From Planecrash, the workhorse Linux-PPC server here at fuckMicrosoft.com HQ, running on an old Power Macintosh 9500 with a G3/350 chip:
11:34pm up 76 days, 15:00, 3 users, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
. . . OK, the 0.00 load doesn't really make it look like much of a "workhorse" right now, I admit.

Life sucks, two days ago bzflag 1.7e6 froze my screen, and nothing would unfreeze it, including killing x and bzflag thru ssh. So Im down to 2 days again, oh well.
-
There was a huge ass thunderstorm this morning that wiped out the power numerous times. So i'm back down to about 2 hours.
-
I'm back up to 14 days. Only 487 more days to go to catch up to where I was before the extended power outage.
-
my uptime's about 3 and a half hours!
i dual boot!
-
Another + for VMware... Never have to shut down Linux.
-
down to 1day -- saw CERT advisories and installed security upsates.
-
You didn't see any CERT advisories that would have caused you to have to reboot. I continually keep my systems patched, and without rebooting them.
