Title: What game should I get?
Post by: TheQuirk on 18 June 2003, 06:32: I am getting a new computer, so, I might as well get a new game I can play on it. It doesn't matter if it doesn't run on Linux, BTW. Windows is OK. I am already getting WCIII, so don't mention it (glares at Macman). Any suggestions?

(Battle Chest comes with Diablo II, Expansion, Diablo I, and Strategy Guides for $40 USD) The game is worth every penny. There is so much gameplay, and the Cinematics are amazing (although not as good as WCIII) After all, it is made by Blizzard. I've had it for over a year and I still play it everyday...best game ever.

You going to get the WC3 expansion Quirk? Comes out July 1 and it is going to be sweet (trust me, I've played the beta a bit)

Post by: Doctor V on 18 June 2003, 11:28: Try Neverwinter Nights, its like Diablo II with a story and choices to make and the like. Very good game. If you ever played Balders Gate, its pretty much a sequel to that. And it works on linux, they don't have a Linux port, but provide a Linux client making it run in wine (not winex) smoothely.

i think dark alliance is for console only....too bad. They have baulders gate 1 and 2 both with expansions for pc though...good games

good choices. BF1942 is amazing. (get the expansion and the Desert Combat Mod (http://www.desertcombat.com/)) its the best mod available.

I am a die hard Baldurs Gate fan. When I heard Neverwinter nights was comming I was sooo excited, I egerlly ran out and baught a copy. It was such a disapoimtment. Storyline is boring, gameplay is pathetic, all the quests are hunt and fetch, and the characters are not fleshed out.

Can I say also that I think that the Second Edition AD&D rules are much better, fair, and balanced.

I have been waiting for a game that would fill the hole left after I finished Baldurs Gate II still havent found it. Tho, Planescape:Torment is pretty darn good!

I have a theory about RPGs, the minute they go full 3d, they begin to suck monkey ass. I think it has something to do with sacrificing gameplay for graphics.

Post by: Doctor V on 19 June 2003, 06:20: I regard Neverwinter Nights as kind of a Diablo II and Balder's Gate II in-between. More Hack 'n Slash than BG2, but not as much as Dia2, more RPG than Dia2 but not as much as BG2.

I totally agree with this.....im worried about Diablo II....I prefer gameplay over graphics by ten thousand times

Hell of a cool game. It's even rivalling the local counter strike dedicated server in popularity and it's only been on the network three daysish. Very tactical too.

oh my god this game rocks [ET]. The only problem is there is onl 6 levels, but they offer a fair amount of gameplay. Unreal Tournament 2003 is great just like this game.

I was rather pissed at that hall near the end. The round room with all the special armor. It was all crap compared to what I already had on.
