I just saw this on a news ticker - he was arrested on drug charges. That'll dent their image a bit...

whats fucked up is they are dropping the charges, if he can behave for a year. if it were any other retard pot head (read: "dood, your gettin a Dell!!")..... well, they would not be so easy on him. its dumb.

In Canada a cop will confiscate your marijuanna and send you on your way. If you are charged(unlikely), your probably not gonna see a jail cell anyways.

I have trouble understanding how they can actually get away with locking up people(especially for a signifcant period of time) for smoking some d00b.

It's the same way in New York (where he was arrested) for the first 1 or 2 offenses if you have small amounts. If you go beyond that, you get jail time...

But it said he was charged with a Class B misdemeanor, which most likely means he had more than a little on him

Well in Canada, it's susposed to now be legal to have a small amount for personal use. The worst a cop can do is confiscate your personal stash. Doesn't matter how many times. How much personal? I'm not sure, but IIRC, it's at least as much as the Dell Dude, if not more(several joints).

They only go after grow operations, and when they do get the grow dudes, they probably get much lighter sentences then the US because... this is Canada! And of course we are less fanatical about anti-drugism. I used to be a fan of harsh jail sentences, but after reading some stuff, I went the exact opposite direction.  (http://smile.gif)

Our prisons are already so overcrowded, what's the point in locking someone up for doing something that's no worse than drinking alcohol? My, those pot smokers are really dangerous criminals.  :rolleyes:
