Title: US and Spain intercept weapons cargo
Post by: KernelPanic on 11 December 2002, 23:57
The United States has allowed a ship carrying 15 Scud missiles and warheads to Yemen to proceed on its way after the vessel and its crew were detained for two days.

North Korea really scares me (not just when I'm playing Koreans at Warcraft 3 on bnet). That whole region is going to explode in the near future, I predict.

We had Powell's "best man" (he works with him, worked with him for the last 15 years) come to our school and answer questions and tell us about his job. He said that the U.S is activly is trying to solve the conflict verbally, without much success. He also said that N. Korea has 300 (or was it 3000?) pieces of artilary that can each shoot the capital of S. Korea without _moving_.

The only good thing that can come of this all is if I'm playing a South Korean 1v1 and he gets nuked before he can beat me. That's about all though.

IMO, Korea is an utterly frightening nation, much worse that Iraq.  The problem with Koreans is their intense, zealous nationalism.  Their love of their own nation and race goes even beyond the dedication of even the most radical of Muslims.  I wish more people knew about the Korean mentality.  Ultra nationalism is never a good thing, its what backed the Nazis.  I'm not saying that Koreans are Nazis, but I am saying that their love of their own race is probably much stronger than even the German's nationalism back in the 30s (before Hitler's rise).  They believe that they are superior to all others.  In their minds, asians (except the Japanese) are superior to all other races, and that Koreans are at the top of the heap.  I'm not saying all Koreans are this way -there are many great people who are Korean, but the Korean media does promote this kind of super-nationalism, and the people, for the most part, follow it.  Unfortunately, this type of thing dosn't usually get the attention of the western media.  :(

I only found out about North Korea's spookiness very recently. Before that all I knew about it came from MASH. I saw a video of children marching in a big stadium-like place waving candles while hot wax burned their faces, but they still looked very happy. They worship their leader like a god, which is extrememly scary by itself.

north korea will have to wait their turn though. there's at least a year of media mileage in Iraq before the US media will need to turn to N Korea for news material. I'm astonished they even got let into the axis of evil in the first place, don't you need to be an arab for that?

yemen...
hmm..
Y E M E N is an anagram for E N E M Y    heheh

ya n korea some freaky bastards   thought the asian narcissus was extinct

well i am no florist

the biggest problem is this:  inlike iraq, korea will soon be able to use nuclear deturrance as a bargaing chip.  that is a zone that no one wants to bet on, because it is just too fucked up politically.  i find it terrifying that ANYONE has nukes (except me) but if i was the king of the planet they would all be my minions anyway

where the hell is this going?

here is where:

so some scuds went to yemen.  we did not know for sure where they were going after that.  its like the drug trade.  bring down one guy now, or wait and bring the whole ring down.

the detention of the shipment guarenteed that they would not fall into play, and let us see who whimpered when we stuck our thumbs up thier asses.

as for n koreas artillery, aint skeered.  they COULD hit populated places inside s korea, but that would bring down the fire on thier own heads.  they are a calculated risk that are best approached with a smile and a handfull of non-agression pacts, not with an m-16 and a handfull of american style shit talking.

asians are not islamic extremists.
