Ok, this is everyone's chance to post the best possible picture of their desktop. Any OS is welcome, even Windows. The whole point of this is to see who has the nicest looking setup. In particular, I encourage anyone with a unique looking desktop to post a picture. Try to show some interesting things, but don't make it too cluttered. I'll show mine first. It's kind of similar to the one I posted in a recent thread, but it's in a higher resolution and I have some neat things going on, such as an Xpde desktop within a Gnome desktop. And do put something interesting as the background, like I did. Erm, yeah. Maybe I should have covered that after all.

And yes I realize there's the "Shameless Screenshots" thread, but that's just monsterously huge, and there are a lot of *crappy* screenshots in there too.
-
I don't know how to put this in the right way, but ehm... I think it sucks arse...

Anywho, I just completely love my taskbar. The rest of the screen can fornicate itselt with an iron rod, but by taskbar is so useful, what with the big line for programs, the quicklaunch, and the address bar for quick net launching. What's more, i just type "g whatever the hell I want t search for" and it pops open a new window with google results. And yes, I am going stir crazy. Thatk you for noticing! Also notice my fave realplayer skin. Realmedia is evil, but I just love that skin. Giggity giggity giggity.

Here's my baby

Notice I'm playing a movie with MPlayer behind my terminal window which just has top running.
The 4 things on the left are minimized windows outside of the dock, the top one being this window I'm typing in now.
The icons on the right by the trash are minimized in the dock
The chat box that is squeezing into the dock is being minimized (took me forever to get that one to take a screenshot)
There are also 2 quicktime moves playing, one in the dock and one on the left by the polar bear (which is someone's AIM icon which I minimized the window for)
The rest you can figure out urselves.

That kinda looks like my computer back when I used Win 98. One thing though... wtf is with the half naked guy with the football helmet and thong? I thought I had weird backgrounds... and the sun and the moon thingy, is that your realplayer skin? One thing I like are the text shadows on the icons. Gnome has them, but I don't think they look as good.

No, I'm talking about the background colour... it just doesn't fit with Bluecurve...
-
It's Murdoc from the Gorrillaz. (More specifically, from the "Rock The House" music video. I had to use something to match your reoccurring desktop theme.) And yes, the Sun thing is my beleved RealPlayer skin. if not for it's existance, I would use Windows Media Player. Also, you can't tell frum the shot, but the moon is transperant.
But damnit. Whenever I see a big mac screenshot, I end up staring at it for several minutes.

Ok Linux User, I think your desktop is just fine, but Bluecurve/gnome cant touch KDE 3.1. Im the Mandrake User out of the group so Ill represent my side. The IceWM theme Im using is called KristallKlear. The icon set and colors Im using are part of the Mandrake Galaxy theme. Of course I love transparent menus, so I set the translucency to 68%. This computer is proof positive that old computers can run Mandrake 9.1 with kde 3.1. This is a 200mhz with 64mb ram. Oh and yes I like Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake.

I think it looks clean, it doesn't even have a border, that is how transparent gif's are supposed to be.

I have a question for ecsyle.
I noticed you used the Graphite Appearance. I just wanted to ask your personal opinion on why. Not that I hold it against you, I just ask everyone I see with a Graphite desktop why.

I have a new screenshot
http://www.skinner.com/jeffberg/files/screenshot2.jpg (http://www.skinner.com/jeffberg/files/screenshot2.jpg)
Notice my desktop, you can't tell from a still pic, but it moves... its a matrix screensaver I. I'm using it as my desktop picture.
The screensaver I used is Red Pill
The app I used is BackLight
If you want to test it before you download a program type this:
You must be running OS 10.2 Jaguar for this to work.
My old screenshot is here:

This screenshot is pretty good. Its Mandrake 9.1 running BlackBox, which might I add is probably the fastest window manager you can run. I think its look is sleek and sexy too.

Not only that but it's also the most streamlined, sharp and clean looking. But the rancor theme looks better...
-
Yeah Rancor is pretty cool too, I did this screenshot with Rancor to show everyone who has never seen it. Kde and Gnome arent everything.
