Honestly, what brought this on x11? Very little of the stuff I put at that site was actually written by me. If you see something that is untrue, email me or post it in the guestbook so I can fix it. I take it you got those from the 50 PC lies? I put that on there because it's kind of funny (that's where I got the idea for False Evange). That was also written probably about five years ago. I'll take it down if I must.
As for the PC references, YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN YOU RETARD!!! How many times do I have to freaking explain something that's so obvious! That was very cleaver of you that you figured out Macs are also personal computers, doogie, just like the last fifty people that have thrown that in my face when they know exactly what I mean already!

why don't you just change it to say 'windows pc' then?
this is the single most stupid thing that many mac users do. they say 'PC' then when people take their meaning to be exactly what they said, they get pissed off! fucking say what you mean then, mac users!!!! if you mean 'Windows PC' then SAY it! if you can write a whole webpage, you can spare the extra seven taps on the keyboard to type that one extra word! how much would it slow you down to include that one extra descriptive word?
Let's say you type at 50 words per minute, and you use the phrase 'PC' six times in your article, that's less than TEN SECONDS you must spend to include the word 'windows' before the word 'PC'. PLUS: think of all the time you'll save digging yourself out of the shit every time somebody notifies you of this obvious dumb mistake! ALSO just think of the credibility you gain by not making a glaringly obvious error!
It would be like me saying that black rappers shoot people to death. many people would be right on top of me in an instant saying how wrong i was and that a lot of black rappers don't shoot people or carry weapons and anyway that most people who get shot to death don't get shot by rappers or even by blacks in many situations, and you know what? THEY'D BE DAMN RIGHT. but some black rappers have been known to shoot people to death, just like some white 'upstanding US citizens' have been known to shoot people to death (and one might suspect that this figure is substantially higher, but we won't go into that) and i really think it would be immature and self defeating of me to just say 'YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN YOU RETARD' in response to the outraged and legitimate claims of the people who said i misrepresented black rappers.
Mac users, i will not take you seriously until you start saying what you mean, and neither will a shitload of other people.

*cough*AHEM*cough*, erm might I just interject here and state that the correct term should be Microsoft Windows, or Windows 2, 3.11, 95, 98, Millenium Edition, NT, 2000 or XP. The term windows PC merely implies a PC capable of running one of the many windowing applications out there, which include Gnome, KDE, Enlightenment, X11 and others. It could also technically be used to describe Mac OS, GEM, Lisa, and all those other lovely windowing programmes that have existed before Microsofts' bastard version.

sarcasm noted, but i take issue with your saying that that's what it implies. actually 'windows pc' implies a PC running microsoft windows. you are correct that that's not what it means, but it's about 2659% better than saying 'PC' and optionally 'YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN YOU RETARD' without using the word 'windows' anywhere in the phraseology...

good. can't you take it is your site says a lot of shit? if the info on your site is wrong, you should change it. in fact correct me if i am wrong, but aren't you one of those who asks people to point out discrepancies on your site?
my previous comments stand. your terminology is wrong. change it to avoid this problem EVERY SINGLE TIME a new reader sees your site. the end. it has *NOTHING* to do with 'offending' people, it's just painful to see you talking out of your arse, when the rest of your material seems to be spot on...

In future I shall make sure that I refer to "MS Windows" and not use the term PC to mean "MS Windows".

There's a lot of good content on my site written by other people that unfortunately use the term PC. I'm not going to change other people's writing, so I would be forced to take down a large chunk of my content. Would you be happy if I put a notice in several places informing people that PC actally means Wintel?

yes, like i said a few days ago, remember that excellent site you linked to about why macs are the best computers for schools? they had a really good two sentence disclaimer explaining that when they said 'PC' they meant an IBM compatible desktop computer running microsoft windows. So long as that is made clear then it's all hunky dory. it's not good saying 'YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN YOU RETARD' if some people clearly do not know what you mean. if everybody knew what you meant then you would not get any people telling you your terminology was wrong (or confusing, whatever).
So just include a disclaimer on the top or bottom of articles that use the term 'PC' in a stupid way. that's my vote anyway, i mean it's your site, i'm just trying to point out how its meaning could be a little clearer.

I posted this at the bottoms of the Articles/Evange and the Rantings sections. Hopefully it will make my site less "retarted".
Disclaimer: PC is a term that is used to describe non-Mac computers, not just Windows computers. There are other PC operating systems that this website has no quarrel with. Unfortunately, this term has been used incorrectly in some of the content here. Unless stated otherwise, please take the term PC to mean Wintel.
